Sexual assault referral centres offer medical, practical and emotional support to anyone who has been sexually assaulted or raped. They have specially trained pediatrician / Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNE) and support workers to care for you.

In an emergency you should always call 999. If you are unable to safely talk to the operator answering your 999 call, press 55 on your handset to let them know you are there.

Northumbria Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) offers help to men and women who have been raped or sexually assaulted, aged 16 or over when the assault occurred. The centres are staffed by people who are supportive and they will be happy to help you whether or not you wish to report to the police. The service is free and confidential.
